Access Gaming Systems (Ireland) signs interactive games supply contract with La Française des Jeux, (the French national lottery).
Access Gaming Systems has signed a license agreement to provide its interactive gaming system to the French national lottery, La Française des Jeux (LFDJ), the world's 5th largest lottery with an annual turnover in excess of $5bn. The Access interactive gaming system will provide LFDJ with an extremely secure, scalable, robust and high performance transaction processing architecture for interactive gaming via the Internet, interactive television and wireless networks.
The Access interactive gaming system will also connect to LFDJ's new planned on-line lotto system, offering players access to traditional lotto games, making the system a truly all-encompassing gaming solution.
In addition, the Access Games Development Kit (GDK) will enable leading games developers to deliver a broad range of new and exciting lottery games.
According to Paul Barnes, Vice President of European Operations, "Access is delighted to have won the opportunity to partner with LFDJ in the development of their interactive gaming business. We believe that a significant percentage of LFDJ's $5bn turnover through its existing distribution channels will migrate to the more convenient online distribution channels over the next five years as well as assisting LFDJ to increase its gross revenues by expanding the market. La Française des Jeux chose Access over stiff competition from several other suppliers, due to our proven technology and open content strategy driven by the many game developers producing games for the Access platform."
Access' interactive gaming system was the first internet gaming system in the world to be certified by a government gaming authority in a fully regulated jurisdiction (The Northern Territory Racing and Gaming Authority, Australia). The Access interactive gaming system has been licensed to major gaming operators in Australia, Austria, Germany, Holland and the United Kingdom. The Access system is currently the only turnkey interactive gaming system in use worldwide by lotteries including Österreichische Lotterien (Austrian Lotteries) and the largest German state lottery, Westdeutsche Lotterie (Westlotto). Access has more than 180 staff developing, supplying and servicing the on-line gaming industry.

Access Share Offer Opens Early
SYDNEY, Aus. (April 3, 2000) -- Access Gaming Systems Limited, leading supplier of internet gambling systems to government regulated gaming operators throughout the world, opens its $45 million share offer on Monday, April 3, a week earlier than scheduled.
The float is one of the first to go public under the new CLERP legislation requiring a public exposure of the prospectus prior to the issue opening.
Michael Neal, Vice President of Investment Banking at Deutsche Bank, the Lead Manager of the issue, said there had been considerable interest from retail investors during the exposure period.
"The company is well placed as a systems and software development company. It has the leading position worldwide in supplying the rapidly emerging Internet gaming marketplace, and much of its future revenue is expected to be generated through participating in its clients’ net revenues," Mr Neal said.
The company, with a workforce of over 150, supplies major casinos and lottery groups in regulated jurisdictions in Australia and Europe with a complete Internet gaming system that operators can easily customise.
Australian Clients who have online sites or are building Internet gaming sites are:
Lasseters;
Tattersall’s;
Federal Hotels;
Golden Casket; and
GOCORP.
European Clients include:
Austrian Lotteries;
Westdeutsche Lotterie;
Holland Casinos; and
RAL .
Access’ current clients have a combined turnover of in excess of $20 billion through their existing land based distribution channels. Access expects to sign up additional clients in the near future.
Its strategy is to only supply those operating from fully regulated jurisdictions. "We believe that as the established, fully regulated casinos and lotteries go online, gamblers will move to these more trusted brands, and the gaming sites operating from largely unregulated jurisdictions are likely to suffer," Managing Director, Mr Stephen Mulcahy, says.
"As our system offers great versatility for operators to customise, is highly secure and the first and only one to be government certified in a fully regulated jurisdiction, Access has become the largest supplier to the regulated market.
"Our share of client net revenues has averaged around 9% but recent agreements have confirmed an upward trend in this share. Our revenue sharing offers investors a way to share in the emerging market of Internet gaming, which Frost & Sullivan estimates will grow at a component annual growth rate of more than 40% a year to an estimated $17.2 billion by 2005," he says.
Access’ revenue in the current financial year is forecast at $11.3 million, with few clients now operational. It expects most present clients to be contributing to revenue in 2001.
"We are one of the few businesses with e-commerce exposure that does not need to spend large amounts on marketing a site or brand to consumers. Our focus is on research and development to create exciting new interactive games and encourage the use of our system as the industry standard," Mr Mulcahy says.

Leader in On-Line Gaming Systems Announces $45 Million Share Offer
SYDNEY, Australia (March 24, 2000) -- Access Gaming Systems Limited, a world leader in supplying the rapidly emerging industry of regulated Internet gaming, intends to raise approximately$45 million with an initial public offering of shares, announced today.
Issue details:
Number of shares offered -- 22.5 million;
Price -- Bookbuild offer with a capped retail price of $2 per share;
Indicative institutional price range -- $1.50 to $2 per share;
Market capitalisation at retail cap -- $200 million;
Retail offer opens -- April 10;
Retail offer closes -- May 3;
Institutional offer closes -- May 5;
Final Price and basis of share allocation announced -- May 5;
Expected start of trading on ASX -- May 12.
The company, with a workforce of over 150, supplies major casinos and lottery groups in regulated jurisdictions in Australia and Europe with a total Internet gaming system which the operators can easily customise.
Critical to Access’ strategy is that it only supplies its system to lotteries and casinos who operate from fully regulated jurisdictions.
Clients are Lasseters, Tattersall’s, Federal Hotels, Golden Casket and GOCORP in Australia as well as Austrian Lotteries, Westdeutsche Lotterie, Holland Casinos and RAL in Europe. Access’ current clients have a combined turnover of in excess of $20 billion through their existing land based distribution channels.
"Our base of quality clients offers investors a unique opportunity to gain a diversified exposure to the rapidly expanding Internet gaming industry. Frost & Sullivan estimates the industry will grow from $639 million in 1998 to $17.2 billion 2003 representing a compound rate of growth of more than 40% per annum," Managing Director, Stephen Mulcahy comments, "The industry is still in its infancy and Access expects to sign up additional clients in the near future."
Fundamental to the company’s business is that Access typically receives a share of the net revenues derived by its clients. Historically, this share of net revenues has averaged over 9%. It is expected that future revenue participation rates will be higher. Recent agreements have confirmed this upward trend.
"E-commerce companies typically spend up to 35% of their revenue in generating brand awareness. As Access is a systems and software developer, it gains e-commerce exposure through its clients without expending the significant costs associated with building brand awareness," Stephen Mulcahy says.
Access leads the industry globally by having the first Internet gaming system in the world to be government certified. This is essential in an industry where probity and credibility are critical.
Access has also taken the approach of making its Internet gaming system an open platform, enabling its clients and independent games developers to create new games based on its platform. To achieve this, it provides its Game Development Kit (GDK) free of charge.
"New and entertaining games are critical to the success of any Internet gaming operator. Funds raised will go toward further development of Access’ Internet gaming system and to the development of further exciting games to be used on the Access’ clients sites."
Funds will also be used to fund capital expenditure, expenses of the offer and working capital requirements.
Access is forecasting revenues of $11.3 million in the year to June 30, 2000 with a net loss of $7.5 million. Directors say that while the majority of Access’ clients will not be operational until the latter part of year ending 30 June 2000, these clients should contribute strongly to Access’ revenues in 2001 and beyond.
Mr Mulcahy said that under the recently introduced CLERP regulations there will be up to two weeks between today’s launch and when the prospectus and applications forms will be available. During the intervening exposure period, the prospectus can be viewed on Access’ website: http://www.access.com.au from Monday March 27.

Senate Select Internet gaming report encourages responsible gambling
Access Gaming Systems Limited's Managing Director, Mr Stephen Mulcahy, said this morning's Senate Select Committee report on online gaming, which recommends regulation of Internet gaming in Australia, puts Australia at the forefront internationally in its responsible approach.
The world's leading Internet games system developer said the advanced technology used in online gaming offers regulators unprecedented ways to monitor and regulate gaming, including the opportunity to eliminate excessive and under-age gambling and to identify and restrict problem gamblers
"Internet gaming offers more responsible gambling. It can be completely regulated and policed because the technology allows gaming operators to know who is playing, how much they are wagering and how often. It is easy to put a bar on under-age gamblers, or restrict the amounts a person may risk on the net. Regulators can track every wager in a way that has not been possible with other forms of gambling.
"Our technology provides the player safeguards that the Senate Select Committee recommendations envisage. Our clients are already using Access system to place a limit on how much players can lose a month, provide self-exclusion options to players, monitor the time a player spends on the site and how much they spend.
"Contrary to the popular view of the Internet as an uncontrollable global medium, online gaming over the Internet can be highly regulated and responsible," he added.
"Australia's approach to focus on player protection rather than prohibition is pragmatic, as prohibition would only drive players into the hands of unscrupulous operators in unregulated jurisdiction, Mr Mulcahy said. The Senate Select Committee recommendations are an encouragement to the emerging high-tech industry of gaming software and multimedia development, which has the potential to earn millions of dollars in export income for Australia and develop local IT skills.
Australia is a world leader in the high technology industry of Internet gaming systems development. It is an industry that is growing rapidly here and can become a significant export income earner for this country.

Austrian Lotteries and Access Gaming Systems Pioneer New Credit Card Payment Method for Internet Gaming
Access Gaming Systems's first European client implements a new standard for electronic commerce
SYDNEY, Australia (December 10, 1999) -- Access Gaming Systems (www.access.com.au) the world's leading supplier of Intenet gaming systems to major gaming operators in fully regulated jurisdictions is delighted to announce that Austrian Lotteries (Österreichische Lotterien GesmbH) is pioneering the use of the SET credit card payment method in association with Visa.
The Austrian Lotteries gaming site (http:// www.webclub.at) will now accept SET transactions from VISA cardholders.
Stephen Mulcahy, Chief Executive Officer of Access, said, "SET removes the risk that online gaming operators have previously been asked to assume for e-commerce transactions."
"Previously operators had to assume almost all the risk for Internet wagers. Players with an internet-derived charge on their Visa statement could simply deny making the bet, and the operator had little right of reply. There was no signature to show that the player made the bet. Thankfully, Visa has changed that situation".
"Under SET, the electronic trail left by an internet transaction is seen as a reliable proof of the bet being placed, and can be used by the operator as a way of establishing that the bet was legitimate and that the cardholder, not the operator, is liable for the transaction."
About SET
Martin Jekl, Product Manager New Technologies Osterreichische Lotterien Ges.m.b.H. said, "to use SET, a player registers their card details into a special electronic wallet. The wallet stores the player's card information as well as a digital certificate, which provides a strong level of authentication. ACES initiates the transaction on behalf of the player, and the player then approves the transaction from within their electronic wallet. The transaction is then authorised in real time by VISA. After the transaction completes, the funds are credited immediately to the player's purse, which can then be used to play games on the Austrian Lotteries site."
Mr Jekl added, "this Secure Electronic Transaction method is a world first for Interactive Gambling and represents a significant advance in electronic commerce."
"Using this method, www.webclub.at will improve the online gaming experience of its players."
Mr. Mulcahy said, "Access Gaming Systems remains committed to providing the latest technology for its customers and will ensure it remains at the forefront of Interactive Gaming and E-commerce."

The world's first fully regulated Internet casino launches using the ACES Internet gaming system from Access Gaming Systems
Sydney, Thursday April 8 /Lottery Insider/ -- Access Gaming Systems (Access) welcomed the announcement today that Australian based Lasseters Casino has commenced cash gaming using Access' ACES Internet gaming system. Lasseters is the first casino in the world to offer cash based gaming in a fully regulated major gaming jurisdiction.
Lasseters Casino, which has operated in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, for 18 years, has launched Lasseters Online at www.lasseters.com.au . The site features 11 games – Single Zero Roulette, Sic-Bo, Joker-Poker, Blackjack and seven variations of slot machines – has strict registration and wagering limits to protect against under age and problem gaming. In addition the site employs the highest levels of security available for Internet based electronic commerce.
Lasseters Online is licensed to operate under the Northern Territory Government's Gaming Control (Internet Gaming) Regulations under its Gaming Control Act.
Stephen Mulcahy, Managing Director of Access, said, "Access and Lasseters have been partners in this project for some 18 months working very closely with the government regulators. Lasseters and the Northern Territory Government required a secure, scaleable and robust high volume transaction-processing platform for its Internet gaming business and chose the ACES Internet gaming system as it comprehensively filled these requirements."
David Ohlson, Executive Manager of Lasseters Online, said, "Australia is recognised internationally as having one of the toughest sets of probity and regulatory standards in the world. Lasseters needed a system that could pass the tough certification process established by the Australian regulators and auditing companies. Although Lasseters Online looked at several systems ACES was the only one that came near to meeting these high standards".
Mr. Ohlson added, "In addition Lasseters Online wanted to be able to develop new games for the ACES system independent of Access. The ACES Games Development Kit ("GDK") provided a powerful game development environment which we were able to use to customise the Lasseters Online site."
Headquartered in Sydney Australia, Access is the world's leading supplier of Internet gaming systems to major gaming operators in fully regulated jursdictions. Another of Access' clients, Austrian Lotteries, was the first major lottery in the world to offer interactive Internet gaming when it launched its web site (www.webclub.at) in December '98. Access Systems's first European client goes live with an internet based instant lottery gaming system
Sydney Dec 14 - Access Systems, is delighted to announce that its first European customer, Austrian Lotteries (Österreichische Lotterien GesmbH), has commenced live cash gaming on the Internet using Access's standard software 'ACES'.
The Austrian Lotteries gaming site (http://www.webclub.at) started operations on December 14th after a period of extensive end user, audit and security testing, and a period of restricted live running.
Access Systems and Austrian Lotteries have been partners in this project for some 12 months. Access Systems was chosen as the preferred supplier due to the ready availability of the system, the accompanying tools (e.g. Games Development Kit) and because the software product and development and testing processes matched the superlative standards of Austrian Lotteries own IT development activities.
Austrian Lotteries will operate the site, known in Austria as "WebClub" with restrictions to prevent unauthorised play by minors and to prevent problem gaming using bet limits and self-exlusion. Initially, player accounts will be credited by a pre-paid card which will be sold in approved lottery outlets such as newsagents. This payment method will be followed shortly by the pioneering use of the SET credit card payment method in association with Mastercard and VISA. Austrian residents only will be allowed to play in the Web Club. The initial games include "Schatzinsel" (Treasure Island) which operates like a slot machine and has a very entertaining bonus game, whereas in the "Penalty Game" you have to score at least 2 goals from 5 tries to win a cash prize.
The Austrian Lotteries' system uses the ACES gaming platform from Access Systems. ACES is a secure, robust and scalable gaming platform specifically designed for the legitimate gaming and wagering industry.
The system has been designed to the highest standards demanded by Australian regulators and auditing companies. Australia is recognised internationally as having one of the toughest set of probity and regulatory standards in the world.
The ACES gaming platform has also been delivered to a land based Casino in Australia and is in the final stages of testing before its release early in 1999.
The ACES gaming platform makes use of industry standards such as SUN servers and the Oracle database.
Founded in 1991, Access has been at the leading edge of many electronic commerce developments in Australia and is now completely focused on the development of software for the gaming and wagering market. The company is 50% owned by JGL Investments and 50% by the management and staff. The company will shortly be releasing the Games Development Kit and looks likely to attract a number of leading games developers from both Australia and overseas to help make ACES the international standard for internet and intranet gaming platforms. Web Results Will Help Net Unclaimed Lottery Prizes
NSW Lotteries has developed a new website with the assistance of design team Creative Digital Technology and Internet developers Access Systems. The new address is: www.nswlotteries.com.au
"The primary aim of the Internet site is to provide a high quality results service for our customers while collecting information from them on what they want to use the web for," said Peter Harris, New Business Manager for NSW Lotteries.
"The look and feel of the site subtly portrays the mixture of responsibility and innovation that is required in today's Lottery market".
The new services offered include: fast access to the latest results and jackpots, historical results for most products back to 1980, the latest game how to play information, a chance for customers to generate their lucky numbers, or see the most frequently drawn numbers, a protected area for retailers to gain Corporate information and the latest media releases regarding winners.
"Customers are drawn back to the site for dividend information and for chances to win prizes by completing fun online crosswords," said Harris.
"The launch crossword relates to our products and can be used as a learning tool for all new visitors to our site.
New fortnightly editions will also relate to interesting facts about the State of NSW in general."
