Boss Media acquires interest in Jadestone Group, a leading innovator in mobile games
2004-10-20 09:06

Boss Media is acquiring an interest in Jadestone Group AB, a Swedish company that is a world-leading developer of games and technology for mobile phones. In addition, Jadestone develops online and multiplayer games for various digital channels, often in combination with one another. Among other innovations, the company has developed a unique 3D-platform in Java, which provides the possibility to play skill games in a web-based environment.

Boss Media is initially acquiring 20 percent of the company's shares and holds an option to purchase an additional 5 percent. The transaction is strategically important for both companies, which immediately gain access to each other's customers and products. An agency agreement was signed between the two companies to increase each company's interest in promoting further sales of the other's products.

"This is an important milestone for us," says Peter Bertilsson, President and CEO of Boss Media. "We gain two things at the same time. One is a unique knowledge about the mobile area, in which it is difficult to keep pace with the rapid technological development for a company such as ours, and the other is that we gain access to know-how in the skill gaming area, which is closely related to our current portfolio technically but not in terms of the end-user experience. In the future, the telephone will be highly important as a distribution channel, both for gambling and entertainment games."

The companies are also entering into a development agreement in which Boss Media is assigning projects to Jadestone for the development of mobile games.

"Our goal is to develop strong, commercial game concepts using state-of-the-art technology," says Robert Henrysson, President of Jadestone. "By teaming with Boss Media, the leading supplier of gaming system solutions, we will be able to jointly deliver a host of new, exciting products aimed at the global gaming market."

Boss Media signs contract with new IVT-customer
2004-10-26 08:47

Boss Media AB has signed a pilot agreement with the Czech gaming operator SYNOT LOTTO a.s for a limited number of gaming machines positioned in various locations in the Czech Republic. The machines are connected to a central system via a client/server solution. The system will offer players a wide range of games, including roulette, video poker and slot machine games.

The Czech government recently issued three VLT licenses (Video Lottery Terminal), one of which was awarded to SYNOT LOTTO. The Ministry of Finance and local authorities have been given an opportunity to seek information on real-time gaming, and supervision can take place on various levels, from a national or regional level down to the individual gaming machine.

The pilot agreement is for a period of six months. During this time, technical and financial requirements will be established for developing the installation into a financially viable operation for all parties. The first machines will be installed during the autumn.

"We offer a highly flexible system that we can customize and configure for different markets, with new languages, gaming machines, communication solutions, games and so on. The deal with SYNOT LOTTO is a good example of how we can adapt our systems to the customer's unique requirements," says Krister Bergström, Vice President of Boss Media.

Boss Media to deliver Pick'n'Click - new Internet gaming form - to Svenska Spel
2004-11-04 08:53

Successful scorer or effective goalkeeper? The choice is yours in Penalty Kick, one of the new games that Boss Media AB has developed in cooperation with Svenska Spel.

A completely new category of games is being launched on the Svenska Spel website this week. Pick'n'Click is the game that contains everything we have always dreamed about - a win every time. For the player, the only challenge is to find where the prize is hiding among the cards and dice.

"This is a very exciting development that contains exactly the ingredients that today's players want," says Svenska Spel's President Jesper Kärrbrink.

The unique aspect of the Pick'n'Click gaming form - or probability games, as the category is also called - is that there is an opportunity to win on every play. It is the player's choice that determines if the prize will be won.

"The game's design corresponds to the behavior that today's players exhibit. Pick'n'Click is fast, entertaining and has impressive graphics with many choices and game variants. I am convinced that it will be very popular among our customers," continues Jesper Kärrbrink.

"Just as in all of our product development, we have carefully considered the issue of responsible gambling. As with all of our other instant games, Pick'n'Click will therefore have limits on wagers. In addition, there are a number of functions on our website that will help players to exercise control over their play. For example, players will be able to establish their own personal gambling budgets," says Jesper Kärrbrink.

Initially, there will be three Pick'n'Click games on the svenskaspel.se website: Three-card poker, Dice and the soccer game Penalty Kick.

"We believe that this type of game will be popular in the state-operated lottery market," says Peter Bertilsson, President of Boss Media AB. "These games are perceived more as entertainment than a chance to win large amounts of money. We see an increasing trend towards games with a flexible gaming engine. By taking advantage of advanced graphics, new games can be launched on a regular basis, thus satisfying the players' need for variation. This type of game is also very suitable for other digital channels, such as mobile phones and gaming terminals. We are proud to have had the opportunity to develop this gaming form together with Svenska Spel and look forward to more exciting projects in the future."

Boss Media to deliver mobile gaming system to William Hill
2004-11-09 15:41

Boss Media AB and William Hill have signed an agreement to set up a pilot installation for a mobile gaming system. The added module will allow William Hill's customers to enjoy Black Jack, Video Poker and Slots via mobile phones. The added channel installation is set to go live in the next few weeks.

The games are developed in Java and will communicate with the gaming server. The added mobile channel will enable a player to play their favourite games on various Nokia and Sony/Ericsson phone models. William Hill is already experienced in mobile gaming, as they operate a successful WAP-betting and WAP-games proposition. With this expansion William Hill will now be able to offer its customers the same real-time casino style games that are available via PC over the Internet. Players will be able to log in and play using their existing account and funds.

"The possibility to play when, where and what you want really comes true on a mobile handset. The new technique with GPRS and color screens offers a very attractive user interface. These two factors will allow mobile gambling to become an important part of the total online gambling business," says Peter Bertilsson, CEO of Boss Media.

"We have already enjoyed success through WAP-betting and with increased penetration of Java-enabled devices there exists great opportunities to take proven Internet-based games and migrate to mobile. We also believe that offering account integration affords further proof of William Hill providing real ubiquity of access of its product range," says Peter Nolan, Group Director at William Hill.

Founded in 1934, William Hill is once of the best-known names in the UK betting industry. It is one of the leading providers of fixed-odds bookmaking services, offering odds and taking bets on a wide range of sporting and other events, as well as offering Amusement with Prizes machines and Fixed Odds Betting Terminals in licensed betting offices and operating an online casino. It is a market leader in all major betting channels in the UK with an established international presence through its online business. William Hill has nearly 1,600 betting shops across the UK, most of which are open seven days a week. William Hill PLC is listed on the London Stock Exchange (Symbol: WMH.L). For further information visit the William Hill corporate website, www.williamhill.co.uk.
