Las Vegas, Nev.-- The Trumpet Awards Foundation, Inc. and Xernona Clayton, creator and executive producer of the Trumpet Awards, recently announced that the 2007 Trumpet Awards will be held at the Bellagio Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on January 22, 2007. This is a special celebration for the Trumpet Awards which has always been held in Atlanta (GA) since its creation in 1993.
"Las Vegas is an exciting city; The Trumpet Awards is an exciting and meaningful event; and our 15th anniversary represents an exciting year to celebrate in Las Vegas," said Clayton. Police circulate video of shooting in North Las Vegas casino ASSOCIATED PRESS NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - Police circulated a security videotape Monday showing a gunman firing shots and people scrambling for cover in an off-Strip casino where a man was killed and a woman was wounded. "The tape's good enough that we think we can (identify him)," said Sean Walker, a North Las Vegas police spokesman. In video footage, a man who appears to be in his late teens or early 20s is seen firing a handgun during a fight about 4:25 a.m. Sunday inside the Silver Nugget casino, about seven miles north of the Las Vegas Strip. The Clark County coroner's office on Monday identified the dead man as Allen Tyrone Smith, 20, of Las Vegas. Police said a woman in her 40s was shot in the hand, treated at a Las Vegas hospital and released. Her name was not made public. Police also issued a plea for people who were in the video to come forward. "Everyone there is at least a witness to a murder," said Tim Bedwell, a police spokesman, who said detectives were working to identify as many as 10 people seen in the video. The face of the gunman is clearly visible as he enters camera range, and can be seen again as he leaves the area, Bedwell said. Casino security guards had begun clearing people out of a casino billiards hall after a disturbance involving several men and women who police said appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s. The guards aren't seen on the video released to the media. At least one punch is thrown in an argument between two people before a man splashes a drink in the face of the gunman, who pulls out a handgun and begins shooting. Neither victim is seen, but video images clearly show the gunman and his clothing, including a dark baseball cap with the brim turned to the back of his head, a dark sweat shirt and oversize cargo shorts.
